Passage 8

In plain words

So the body is not you. The mind is not you. The senses are not you. All these are only instruments. God rules all this creation. He is present in everything as the One. If you set out a thousand pots and pour water into them, the sun appears in all thousand pots. But there are not a thousand suns there. If you pour the water away, the sun is not seen in even one pot. In the same way, if we ‘pour away’ the narrow feeling of I and mine, what remains is God alone! God is one, goal is one.

Today Anil Gokak is retiring. Vishwanath Pandit is ‘ready’ to take up the duties as the new Vice-Chancellor. He too is a very good man; as an educationist he has travelled through many countries. In the body, many Vice-Chancellors have come and gone. But their Ātmas have always remained Mine. I Myself am present as their Ātma. So we must not think that one has come and one has gone. Carry out the duty given to you. “Duty, duty, duty!” That itself strengthens your bond with God. “Duty is God.” So regard your duty itself as God and do it properly. Anil Gokak did his duty very well. If he had even a small doubt, he would come to Me at once and tell Me of it. I have great need of such people. All the Vice-Chancellors who have come, from V.K. Gokak to this Anil Gokak, are Mine! Those still to come are Mine too! I use the services of such fine men of learning only for the progress of the children.

Our students are very good children. They cannot be compared with those outside. In colleges outside, many children behave without discipline. Our children are not the kind to mix with such people. Wherever they go, they keep their own distinctiveness. They hate no one; they look at no one in anger. In the spirit of Prema that says ‘All are our own’, they take Swami's commands upon their heads and behave with discipline. Spirituality is like the head of everything. All the other limbs work with the head as their support, do they not!
