In plain words
This land of Bhārata is the birthplace of such devoted wives. Even foreigners praise the greatness of Bhārata highly. But now, when people of Bhārata go abroad and are asked, “Where have you come from, sir?”, should they not say, “I have come from Bhārata, sir”? They do not say so. “I have come from Delhi,” “I have come from Calcutta,” “I have come from Bangalore,” they say. “I have come from Puttaparthi in Anantapur district,” they say. Where is Puttaparthi? Where is Anantapur? These are in Bhārata itself, are they not! Delhi, Calcutta, Bangalore: are these not all parts of Bhārata! So wherever we go, we must say with pride, ‘We are people of Bhārata.’ The people of Bhārata are those blessed with great good fortune. Such good fortune is not something everyone receives. The people of Kerala are those who have kept such good fortune. So they are very fortunate. The sacredness there is in Kerala must spread to every village in Bhārata.
There are many things you must learn from watching the play ‘Sāvitrī’ that the Kerala Bal Vikas children will stage today. You know well: in the past two days the people of Kerala have put on very good dramas here. Yesterday they celebrated the wedding of Sītā and Rāma in great splendour. The day before that they presented the līlās of Kṛṣṇa magnificently. Their songs, their words, their dances and their actions too were wonderfully varied. Their dresses too were very fine. The women of Kerala who are Sathya Sai devotees have done very great service. Only through their encouragement were these plays presented so beautifully. In just this way, in every matter, whatever the women or the men of Kerala do, they do it on a grand scale.
