In plain words

Whenever an enemy attack came forth against Bharat, this sacred land, from the very first, had to bear the burden of standing as the bulwark against that force's onrush. The mighty breast-regions of this land of the brave had, before all else, to become the target for the bites and blows of the evil storms that rose up against Āryāvarta. Even so, though it has undergone terrible violence so many times, this land has not, even to this day, wholly lost its glory and its strength. It was from this very place that the saintly Nanak, that great soul, taught his own most wondrous sentiment of Prema. It was here indeed that his broad heart blossomed. Bharatiyas extended their arms to embrace in Prema not only the Hindu world but the Muslim world as well. Among the last of those who held the foremost place among the foremost of Hindu men, Guru Govind Singh, having endured the bloodshed of himself and of his own most beloved ones for the sake of upholding the true faith in this land — though those for whose sake he suffered such terrible violence abandoned him — without in the least forsaking his own countrymen, went to the Deccan and, his heart broken, gave up his life like a lion. May the fame of those great souls stand eternal! Such noble ones did immense good for the multitude of mankind.

Just as there is a certain distinctiveness in every human being, so too is there a distinctiveness in every kind. Just as every person, being different from all others in certain particular matters, possesses certain distinctive characteristics of his own, so too does every nation possess certain distinctive characteristics that other nations lack. Just as, in Nature's fixed order, the particular role each person must fulfil is established, and his own past karma has, in turn, laid out for him a particular path, so too is it with nations. Every nation must fulfil a role fixed by destiny.
