In plain words
is ākāśa's substance in its most subtle form; in it dwells prāṇa's most subtle form, the activity of thought. Beyond that dwells the jīva, which is man's true nature. Just as, however many times we clip our nails, our nails remain undivided from our body and, as it were, its own offering, in that same way the gross body too remains related to the subtle body.
