is suffering. Even so, he [the jīva] is beyond place and time. It is to make him grasp that matter, to free him from bondage, and to uplift him, that the Veda-mother has undertaken this. The Veda-mother contents the jīva and gives him relief from doubt, but does not stir up revolution within him. This is well known to the wise.
The earth has the power of gravity. Not everyone knows since when it has existed. It was born together with the earth itself; the earth and its gravity both have an inseparable relation. That some people did not know of a certain gravity within the earth, or that the gravity within the earth did not appear to them, does not mean there is no gravity in the earth — to say so is foolishness. No one was able to know the power of gravity that was born together with the earth; even though they had not come to know it, gravity existed all along. At last, with many ideals and researches, the Western physical scientist named Newton declared that the earth has the power of gravity. From the time he proclaimed it, the world believed that the earth has gravity. But this gravity existed even before the world believed it, and even before it was researched. This did not spring up newly, all of a sudden, through research. In just that way, the eternally true Vedas existed even before Bharatiyas brought them into their own experience. Just as the Western physical scientist declared that the earth has gravity, in just that same way, Bharatiyas established through research and proved that the Vedas are the basis for everything. These Vedas existed even before Bharatiyas experienced them through research. Just as the gravity that Newton discovered is true not only for one Western land, but for the entire world, in just that same way, the Vedas that Bharatiyas discovered are filled, in the form of sound, not only throughout Bharat, but throughout the entire world. It cannot be said that Bharat itself is the Vedas' birthplace; Bharatiyas
