Though you do japa, the great daily fire rite and tapas, they do not equal remembering Hari's Name; though you go round places of pilgrimage and worship there, they do not equal remembering Hari's Name; though you keep fasts and vratas without fail, they do not equal remembering Hari's Name; though you perform horse sacrifices beyond measure, they do not equal remembering Hari's Name. Eating leaves and herbs within the forest and wandering there: what is the fruit of it, O noblest of the good? Weigh it well: what is the fruit of all these? Without remembrance, Hari's grace will not come.
