Speech that never once celebrates the fame of Hari, which makes the world clean, however finely its words are set, the thoughtful call a bathing place for crows, where the swans who dwell in what is pure take no pleasure. But that pouring out of speech in which, verse by verse, the names of the Endless are set down and marked with his fame, washes away the sins of a people, faulty though its making be; and the good hear it, and sing it, and take it up. Even freedom from works, and knowledge unmixed and without stain, does not shine when it is empty of feeling for the Unfallen. Then what of works, always inauspicious, that are not offered to the Lord, even the ones done from no motive?

So then, greatly favoured one, whose sight does not fail, whose hearing is pure, who delights in truth and holds firm to his vows: for the loosing of every bond, call to mind in deep concentration the doings of him whose strides are wide.
