8Having made this compendium of the Bhagavan and gone through it in order, the sage taught it to his own son Suka, who delighted in turning away. 9But he delighted in turning away, that sage, and looked with indifference on everything. Being one who takes his pleasure in the self, for whose sake did he study this great work? 10Even the sages who take their pleasure in the self and have loosed every knot offer devotion without motive to him of the wide strides. Such are the qualities of Hari. 11His mind carried off by the qualities of Hari, the revered son of Badarayana studied that great telling, being always dear to the people of Visnu.
12I shall now speak of the birth of the royal sage Pariksit and of his deeds and passing, and of the end of the sons of Pandu, and of the rising of the stories of Krsna.
