53A disgrace to the brahmanas is not to be killed; an assassin deserves killing. Both have been handed down by me alone. Keep the instruction whole. 54Make true what you promised while comforting your dear one, and do what pleases Bhimasena and the Pancala princess and myself as well. 55Arjuna, knowing at once what was in Hari's heart, took off with his sword the jewel from the brahmana's head, together with the hair. 56Loosing him from the rope that bound him, his lustre struck away by the killing of children, stripped of his brilliance and of the jewel, he had him driven out of the camp. 57Shaving, taking away his wealth, and driving him from his place: this is the killing of those who disgrace the brahmanas. There is no other that touches the body.
58Then all the Pandavas, stricken with grief for their sons, together with Draupadi, did what had to be done for their own dead, the carrying out and the rest.
