37Lord, whose doings are of your own making: do you mean today to leave us, your friends, who live by you, for whom there is nothing to rest on but your lotus feet, among kings who have been set on to do us harm? 38Who are we, in name and in form, the Pandavas together with the Yadus, once you are not to be seen, as the senses are once their ruler is gone? 39This earth will not be lovely then as it is now, bearer of the mace, when it shines marked with your feet and the signs that are upon them. 40These prosperous lands, with their well-ripened herbs and plants, with their forests and hills and rivers and waters, thrive under your glances.
41So, lord of all, self of all, form of all: cut this rope of affection of mine for my own, which holds tight upon the Pandavas and the Vrsnis. 42Let my understanding, which has no object but you, lord of Madhu, carry its love to you unfailingly, as the Ganga carries her flood to the sea.
