1So, afraid because of the harm done to his people, and wishing to know all dharma, he went then to Vinasana, where Devavrata had fallen. 2Then all his brothers followed, brahmanas, in chariots drawn by fine horses adorned with gold, and Vyasa and Dhaumya and the rest went as well. 3The Bhagavan too, sage among brahmanas, went in a chariot with Dhananjaya; and among them that king shone like Kubera among his guhyakas. 4Seeing Bhisma fallen upon the ground like an immortal dropped out of heaven, the Pandavas with their followers, and with the bearer of the discus, bowed down to him. 5Best of the good, all the brahmana sages were there, and the divine sages, and the royal sages too, to see that bull of the Bharatas.
6Parvata, Narada, Dhaumya, the revered Badarayana, Brhadasva, Bharadvaja with his pupils, and the son of Renuka; 7Vasistha, Indrapramada, Trita, Grtsamada, Asita, Kaksivan, Gautama, Atri, Kausika, and then Sudarsana; 8and other sages too, brahmana, spotless ones with Brahmarata at their head, came with their pupils, Kasyapa and Angirasa and the rest. 9Recognising those greatly favoured ones gathered there, the best of the Vasus, who knew dharma and understood the divisions of place and time, did them honour. 10And knowing his power, he honoured Krsna, the lord of the world, seated there, who dwells within the heart and has taken on a body by his maya.
11With eyes blinded by tears of affection he spoke to the sons of Pandu, who sat near him, drawn close by reverence and love.
