15The quarters are smoky to their bounds; the earth shakes with its mountains; there is a great crashing, and thunder along with it, dear one. 16A wind blows harsh to the touch, letting loose darkness with its dust; the clouds rain blood, and everything is loathsome on all sides. 17See the sun with its light struck away, and planets grinding against one another in the sky; heaven and earth as though ablaze with the troops of beings crowding them. 18Rivers and streams are troubled, and lakes, and minds. Fire does not blaze up with the butter. What will this time bring about? 19Calves do not drink at the udder, and the mothers do not give milk; the cows weep with faces of tears, and the bulls take no pleasure in the pen.
20The images of the gods seem to weep, and to sweat, and to move. These regions and villages, cities and gardens and mines and hermitages, their beauty fallen from them and their gladness gone: what evil are they showing us?
