Verse 17

¹⁷This word of yours, giving safety to those in distress, is fitting in you who come of Pandu, for whose many good qualities Krsna the Bhagavan was made a messenger and more. ¹⁸Bull among men, we do not make out that person from whom the seeds of affliction come. We are bewildered by the differing of what is said. ¹⁹Some, wrapped up in alternatives, say the self is the cause of the self; others say it is fate; others, works; and others say nature is the master. ²⁰In some the settled view is that it comes of what cannot be reasoned out and cannot be pointed to. Royal sage, weigh here for yourself, with your own understanding, what fits the case.
