46But that lord of men is a keeper of dharma, an emperor of wide fame, plainly great among the Lord's own, a royal sage who has performed the horse sacrifice. Hungry and thirsty and worn out and wretched, he in no way deserves a curse from us. 47A wrong has been done by a boy of unripe understanding to his own servants, who had done no wrong. May the Bhagavan, the self of all, forgive it. 48Slighted, cheated, cursed, thrown down, even killed, those who are devoted to him do not pay it back, though they have the power to. 49So that great sage burned with sorrow for the wrong his son had done; and though the king had himself offended him, he did not count that a wrong at all.
50For the most part the good in this world, when others set them among opposites, are neither troubled nor made glad, since the self does not rest upon the strands.
