King, these two courses you asked about are sung in the Veda and are without beginning; the Bhagavan Vasudeva, well pleased when he was worshipped, declared them to Brahma long ago. For one who has entered the round of rebirth here there is no other auspicious path than this, from which the yoga of devotion to the Bhagavan Vasudeva may arise. The revered Brahma looked through the whole Veda three times with his understanding, and, unmoved, settled upon that from which love for the Self would arise. The Bhagavan Hari is made out in all beings by one's own self, the seer being inferred from the marks that can be seen, from the understanding and the rest.

Therefore, king, with the whole of oneself, everywhere and always, the Bhagavan Hari is to be heard of, to be praised, and to be remembered by people. Those who drink the nectar of the story of the Bhagavan, the Self of the good, gathered into the cups of their ears, make clean a mind that the objects of sense have fouled, and go to the nearness of his lotus feet.
