47Always at rest, without fear, awareness and nothing more, clean, even, beyond what is and what is not: this is the truth of the supreme Self. No word reaches there, with its many agents and its business of doing, and maya turns away from what faces it, ashamed. 48That is the station of the Bhagavan, the supreme Person, which they know as Brahman, unbroken happiness with no grief in it. Holding all together in restraint, the strivers give up the very tool of their striving, as Indra the self-ruler throws down the spade once the water pit is dug. 49The Bhagavan is master even of what is good for us, since it is from him that everything that is, laid out by being and by its own nature, comes to stand at all. When the body falls apart and its elements scatter, the Person there, unborn, does not fall apart, any more than space does.
50So, my son, the Bhagavan who brings the whole world into being has been told to you in brief. Nothing that is or is not, and nothing that comes from anything else, is other than Hari. 51This, called the Bhagavata, which the Bhagavan spoke to me, is a gathering together of his outreachings. Make it large. 52Set your mind on this and tell it out, so that devotion may come to men for Hari, the Bhagavan, the self of all and the ground of everything. 53For one who tells of the maya of that Lord, for one who takes gladness in it, for one who listens with trust and does so always, the self is not bewildered by maya.
