And then the kings on both sides of your brothers' sons fell, kings at whose coming with their armies the earth of Kuruksetra shook. Suyodhana, his fortune and his years destroyed by the ripening of bad counsel from Karna and Duhsasana and the son of Subala, lay on the ground with his thigh broken and his followers around him; and seeing it he did not rejoice. How much of the earth's great burden is it that has been worn away here, the eighteen divisions rooted in Drona and Bhisma and Arjuna and Bhima? The strength of the Yadus stands, hard for anyone to bear, and it is made of portions of me. When a quarrel comes among these men themselves, whose eyes are red with the sting of drink, there is no other way of ending them than that. Once I have raised it, they will go out of sight of themselves.

Having thought this out, the Bhagavan set the son of Dharma in his own kingdom and gave his friends joy, showing them the road that good men walk. The line of Puru was well carried in Uttara by Abhimanyu, and when it was cut off by the weapon of Drona's son the Bhagavan carried it again.
