27So with Vidura, his great burning flooded by the nectar of talk about the qualities of him whose form is all this, the son of Upagava spent that night on the bank of Yama's sister as if it were a moment, and then went. 28When the Vrsnis and the Bhojas had come to their end, chiefs over the chiefs of the chariot-troops, how was it that Uddhava, first among them, was left, when even Hari, lord of the three, let his own shape go? 29He whose wish never fails, gathering in his own line by time under the name of a brahmin's curse, and about to leave his body, surely thought this: 30When I have gone from this world, it is Uddhava alone who deserves the knowledge that rests on me; he is now the best of those who hold themselves in hand.
31Uddhava is not less than me by so much as a speck, for the strands have never worn him down. Let him stay here, then, and make the world take hold of my knowing.
