23The Bhagavan alone was this in the beginning, the self of selves, the mighty one; and as his own wish followed after him, that self is marked out by many ways of thinking. 24He was then the seer, and he saw nothing to be seen, sole king. His power was asleep and his seeing was not, and he held himself to be as though he were not. 25That power of his, the seer's, whose nature is what is and what is not, is called maya, greatly favoured one; and by it the mighty one measured out this world. 26By the working of time, into maya made of the strands, the one beyond the reach of the senses, who holds all strength, laid his seed through the Person who is his own becoming.
27From that unshown thing, driven by time, the great principle came to be, whose self is understanding, driving out darkness, showing forth the world that stands within its own body. 28That too, whose self is portion and strand and time, lying open to the Bhagavan's look, unfolded itself, being itself a self, out of a wish to send this world out.
