We bow to the lotus of your feet, god, the parasol that stills the burning of those who come to it; men under vows who make its root their shelter throw off easily the great suffering of the round of birth. Ordainer, since in this becoming, Lord, living things are struck by the three burnings and find no rest, therefore, Bhagavan, self, we take shelter in the shade of your feet, which carries knowledge with it. That which the seers search for in solitude with the great birds that are the metres, nesting in the lotus of your face; and step by step they come to the station of him whose feet are a ford, from whom rises the best of rivers, whose water washes wrong away.

Setting it down in a heart being scoured clean by trust and by a devotion that has heard much, may we, steady, by knowledge and by the strength of detachment, come to that seat which is the lotus of your feet. May we all go for shelter to the lotus of your feet, who have made a descent for the birth and the standing and the gathering in of all this: feet which, once remembered, Lord, give your own men freedom from fear. For men who hold the hard grip of mine and I upon a body and a house that are not real, with everything that hangs on them, it is very far off, though it lives in their own city. Bhagavan, let us serve that lotus of your feet.
