By days and nights of this kind, marked off by the going of time, even his utmost span of a hundred years is as though whittled away. Half of that span is called a parardha. The first parardha has gone by, and the second is running now. At the beginning of the first parardha there was a great aeon named for Brahma, in which Brahma came to be, whom they know as the Brahman that is sound. And at the end of that same one there was an aeon which they call the Lotus, in which out of the navel-pool of Hari came the lotus of the worlds. But this aeon that is spoken of belongs to the second half, Bharata; it is known as the Boar, and in it Hari was a boar.

This time named two parardhas is treated as a single blink of the unshaped, the endless, the beginningless self of the world.
