Beasts that range in the woods· Verses 10–12

Bhagavan said: True enough, sir, we are beasts that range in the woods, and we hunt village lions of your sort. Brave men take no notice of the boasting of one already tied in the ropes of death, you who bring nothing good. Here we are, the thieves of what was left in trust with those who live in the depths, shameless, driven off by your mace. Still we stand in the fight somehow. Where should we go, having made an enemy of a strong man? One has to stand. You are the chief over the leaders of the foot-troops, they say. Set about our undoing quickly, and do not stop to think. Lay us out and wipe away the tears of your own people. A man who does not carry his promise through is not fit for company.
