Taking in the honest deathless words of Virinci, he laughed and accepted them with a sidelong look that had love inside it. Then the one born of the nostril sprang up and struck the demon, his rival, who was moving in front of him with nothing at all to fear, on the jaw with his mace. That mace, struck by the demon's own, was knocked out of the Bhagavan's hand; it went spinning and shining as it fell, and the thing seemed a wonder. He had his opening then, and did not press a man without a weapon: he was honouring the rule of the fight, and rousing Visvaksena to anger. With the mace struck away and a cry of grief going up, the mighty one honoured that rule of his, and called to mind the one whose nave is fair.
