Bhagavan said: The yoga that goes to the innermost self is, as I hold it, what brings men to the highest good, the yoga in which both pain and pleasure come wholly to rest. That same yoga I will speak to you, faultless one, which I spoke long ago to the sages who wanted to hear it: a yoga skilled in every limb of itself. It is the mind, they hold, that makes the binding of a self, and its freeing too: caught in the strands it binds, delighting in the Person it frees. When the mind is emptied of the stains that rise from thinking I and mine, of desire and greed and the rest, it is clean, without pain, without pleasure, the same all through.

Then the person sees the self, alone, beyond nature, unbroken, self-lit, finer than the finest, and not divided anywhere, sees it whole with a mind joined to knowledge and detachment and joined to devotion, and sees it standing apart, and sees nature with her force broken.
