5For this reason let a person bring slowly under control the mind that clings to the path of unreal things, by an intense yoga of devotion and by detachment; 6practising with faith along the paths of yoga, by restraint and the rest, with true feeling towards me, and by hearing my story; 7by evenness towards all beings, by freedom from enmity, by keeping clear of attachment, by chastity, by silence, and by his own duty strongly kept; 8content with whatever comes of itself, eating little, a sage taking shelter in solitude, at peace, friendly, compassionate, possessed of himself; 9laying no false hold upon this body and what comes with it, by the knowledge in which the truth of nature and of the Person has been seen;
10standing where the understanding has come to rest, all other seeing put far off, perceiving the self by the self, as the sun is perceived by the eye, himself the seer of the self.
