11He reaches that which is free of marks, which appears as being in the midst of what is unreal, the kinsman of the real, the eye upon the unreal, threaded through everything, without a second. 12As a reflection standing in water is seen by a reflection standing on land, and as the sun set in the sky is seen by its own reflection standing in water, 13so threefold I-making is made out by its own reflections, which are the elements and the senses and the mind; and by that appearance of being, the seer of truth is made out. 14When here in sleep the subtle elements, the senses, the mind, the understanding and the rest are dissolved into the unreal, he who is there without sleep and without I-making,
15thinking himself then to be lost though he is not lost, and thinking so falsely: when I-making is gone the seer is like a man in distress who has lost his money. 16Reflecting in this way, he reaches the self, which is the standing-ground and the grace of substance joined to I-making.
