Milking duty for pleasure· Verses 1–4

।

Now the man who lives at home and keeps only the duties of a householder milks his own duties for desire and for wealth, and then feeds those same duties again. And he, made a fool by his wanting and turned away from the dharma that belongs to the Bhagavan, worships gods and fathers with sacrifices, and does it in full trust. His mind taken over by that trust, vowed to the fathers and the gods, the man goes to the world of the moon, drinks the soma there, and will come back again. And when Hari, whose seat is the Endless, lies down upon the couch that is the king of snakes, then those worlds of the householders go to their dissolution.
