Having heard the words of Kapila in this way, she who bore him, Kardama's beloved, Devahuti, her covering of confusion fallen from her, bowed down to him and praised him, the ground of attainment that the reckoning of what is real marks out. And even the unborn one meditated on that body of yours as it lay within the water, made of the elements and the senses and their objects and the self, the flowing of the strands, the seed of everything that is; and he himself was born from the lotus out of your belly. It is you who order the whole of this, your strength parcelled out along the flowing of the strands, wanting nothing from the making of it or the rest, your purpose never going wrong, lord of the self, with a thousand powers no argument can reach.

And that same you were carried in my womb, master? How can it be, when all this lay in your belly, and at the end of the age you lay alone upon a fig leaf, a child of maya sucking your own foot?
