Sons were born to Vasistha on Urja, scorcher of foes: seven seers of Brahman without a stain, and Citraketu at their head. Citraketu, and Suroci, and Viraja, and Mitra too, Ulbana, Vasubhrdyana, Dyuman; and Sakti and the rest were others of them. Citti, Atharvan's wife, got a son who kept his vow, Dadhyanc of the horse's head. Learn now from me the line of Bhrgu. Bhrgu, greatly favoured, begot sons on his wife Khyati, Dhatr and Vidhatr, and Sri, who is given over wholly to the Bhagavan. Meru gave his two daughters, Ayati and Niyati, to those two; and of them, by these, Mrkanda and Prana were born. Markandeya came of Mrkanda, and the sage Vedasiras of Prana; and Kavi Bhargava, whose son was the revered Usanas.

These sages, Ksatta, made the worlds to be by their bringings-forth. This line of Kardama's daughters' children has now been told to you, and for one who hears it with trust it takes wrongdoing away at once, and there is nothing higher.
