Long ago, at the long sacrifice of the makers of the world, the highest seers came together, and all the hosts of the deathless ones with their followers, and the sages and the fires. When he came in there, the seers saw him shining with his own light like the sun, and making that great gathering free of every shadow. And those who sat in that gathering rose up from their seats, and the fires with them, all except Virinca and Sarva, their minds carried off by that brightness. The revered Daksa was well honoured by the lords of the gathering; he bowed to the unborn one, the teacher of the world, and at his word he sat down.

Then, seeing Mrda seated before him and getting no honour from him, he could not bear it; and looking at him sideways out of both eyes, as though he would burn him, he spoke.
