6And when his father set out for the forest, Utkala, Dhruva's son, wanted neither his father's high seat nor the wealth of the whole earth. 7From birth his self was quiet, he held to nothing, he saw evenly. He saw the self spread out in the world, and the world in the self. 8He saw the self as Brahman, at rest, its shape gone down, one taste of pure waking, bliss running on without a break; 9and with the dirt of works burned out of his mind by an unbroken fire of yoga, holding to what he truly was, he saw nothing then that was other than the self. 10By the look of him dull, blind, deaf, mad, dumb, and none of it in his mind, he was taken by fools on the road for a fire whose flame has died down.
11The elders of the house and the ministers took him for dull and mad, and made the younger man king, Vatsara, the son of Bhrami.
