So Vena's son, the Bhagavan, proclaimed by his qualities and his deeds, honoured those singers, made them welcome, and gave them what they wanted. He honoured the classes with the brahmins at their head, his servants and ministers and priests, the townspeople, the country people, the guilds and his own officers. Why did the earth, who has many shapes, take the shape of a cow? When Prthu milked her, who was the calf, and what was the vessel? The goddess is uneven by nature; how was she made level by him? And for what reason did the god carry off his sacrificial horse? Brahmin, when that royal sage had got knowledge, and the seeing of it, from the revered Sanatkumara, best of those who know Brahman, what course did he go to?

And whatever else there is of the holy hearing of Krsna, the Bhagavan, the master whose fame is fair, anything that rests on the story of his earlier bodies, you should tell it to me, who am devoted and given over to you and to the one beyond the reach of the senses, he who in the shape of Vena's son milked this earth.
