7It is one, clean, light of itself, beyond the strands and yet the ground of them; it goes everywhere, is uncovered, and is the witness; it has no self of its own, and it is the self beyond the self. 8The man who knows the self so, as it is, standing in himself, is not smeared by the strands even while he stands in nature; he stands in me. 9King, one who worships me always by his own duty, wanting nothing and holding trust, finds that his mind grows calm little by little. 10Having left the strands behind, seeing rightly, clear within, he comes to peace, to a standing evenly in me, to the aloneness that is Brahman. 11Whoever knows this self, unmoving, overseeing substance and knowledge and act as though it took no side, comes to what is good.
12The flow of the strands belongs to the mark that is divided into substance and act and doer and awareness. So when good fortune and bad are seen, the wise, who have bound their friendship to me, are not shaken. 13Be even, the same towards high and middling and low, the same in pleasure and in pain, your senses and your mind mastered. Hero, joined by me to all the worlds, take up the guarding of them all.
