How much a king may kill· Verses 6–10

A greedy king is held to this rule: at the fords appointed for it, he may kill in the forest animals fit for sacrifice, and only as many as are needed. The man who knows this and does the work laid down for him is not smeared by that work, king of kings, because he knows. One who does his works otherwise, climbing on his own pride, is bound; fallen into the current of the strands, his good sense lost, he goes downward. There was ruin there among those whose bodies were pierced by arrows feathered in many colours, and their pain was more than men with pity in them could bear. Killing hares, boars, buffaloes, wild oxen, antelope and porcupine, those fit for sacrifice and others of many kinds, he came at last to weariness.
