Verse 10
Brahma comes down to the valley· Verses 6–10
6Now at that time, king, that prince Priyavrata, greatest among the Lord's own, having easily reached the truth of the highest thing by attending on Narada's feet, was about to be consecrated for the long sacrifice of Brahman. His father called on him to keep the surface of the earth, since he alone held that fine array of qualities the books name for the work; but he did not welcome it, though it was not a thing that could be refused, for he had set the whole gathering of his instruments and acts on the Bhagavan Vasudeva alone, by a yoga of gathered mind that nothing broke, and he foresaw in such a charge an undoing of himself by something other, and that other unreal.
7Then the revered first god, born of himself, whose whole intent for the world is settled by his brooding on the swelling of this outpouring of the strands, came down from his own dwelling, ringed about by all the Vedas and by his own people. 8He came on, here and there in the floor of the sky, honoured along the way by the chiefs of the immortals in their rows of flying cars, like the lord of the stars, and sung road after road by whole companies of the perfected, the gandharvas, the sadhyas, the caranas and the sages; and he lit up the valley of Gandhamadana as he came. 9There the sage among the gods, seeing that this was his father, the revered Hiranyagarbha, by his swan chariot, rose up at once and, with an offering, and together with the father and the son, stood before him with palms joined and attentive.
10And the revered one, Bharata, having been offered honour by him and greatly delighted by a recited hymn about his array of qualities and his descents and their fine victories, the first Person, looking on Priyavrata with a kindly smile, said this to him.
