Saka, and the one who has entered within· Verses 24–28

।

In the same way, set all around outside the ocean of milk, lies the island of Saka, three million two hundred thousand yojanas across, encircled by an ocean of buttermilk equal to itself. On it stands a great tree named saka, which gives its own ground the name, and whose strong sweet scent perfumes the whole island. Its lord too was of Priyavrata's line, Medhatithi by name. He divided seven regions named after his sons, set those sons of his in them as rulers, Purojava, Manojava, Pavamana, Dhumranika, Citrarepha, Bahurupa and Visvadhara, and himself, his mind entered into the Bhagavan who has no end, went into the forest of austerity.

Their region-boundary mountains and their rivers are seven and seven: Isana, Urusrnga, Balabhadra, Satakesara, Sahasrasrotas, Devapala and Mahanasa; Anagha, Ayurda, Ubhayasprsti, Aparajita, Pancapadi, Sahasrasruti and Nijadhrti. The men of those regions, named Rtavrata, Satyavrata, Danavrata and Anuvrata, have shaken off passion and darkness by holding the breath, and with the deepest gathering of the mind they worship the Bhagavan whose self is the wind. He who has entered within all beings and holds them up by the marks of the self: may the inner ruler, the Lord himself, in whose power this plainly stands, protect us.
