27Going on in this way, not knowing, when the hour of his death stood over him he set his mind on his son, the little boy called Narayana. 28He saw three men, very grim, with nooses in their hands, their mouths twisted, their hair standing up, come to take him away. 29His son called Narayana was some way off, taken up with his toys. With his senses in disorder he called out to him in a long loud cry. 30Hearing the dying man as he spoke the naming of Hari, the name of their master, great king, the Lord's attendants came down at once. 31Visnu's messengers stopped Yama's servants by main force as they dragged Ajamila, the servant woman's husband, out from within his heart.
32Stopped, those who go before the son of the sun said to them: Who are you, forbidding what the king of dharma has ruled? 33Whose men are you, and where have you come from, and why do you stop us in this? Are you gods, or lesser gods, or the best of the perfected?
