The bringing forth of gods and antigods and men, of snakes, of beasts and birds, you have told me in brief, as it was in Svayambhuva's period. I want to know it from you at length, revered one: by what power the highest Bhagavan brought forth the creation that came after. Hearing this full question of the royal sage, the son of Badarayana, the great yogin, welcomed it and spoke, best of sages. When the ten sons of Pracinabarhis, the Pracetas, came up out of the sea, they saw the earth covered over with trees. Angry at the trees, their fury lit by their austerity, they sent out wind and fire from their mouths, meaning to burn them.

Seeing the trees burning in those two, best of the Kurus, the great Soma, the king, spoke, as though quieting the anger.
