Bhanu, Lamba, Kakubh, Jami, Visva, Sadhya, Marutvati, Vasu, Muhurta, Sankalpa: these are Dharma's wives. Hear their sons. Of Bhanu came Devarsabha, and from him Indrasena, king. Of Lamba came Vidyota, and from him the thunderclouds. Kakubh's son was Sankata, and his son Kikata, from whom came the strongholds of the earth. Jami's son was Svarga, and from him came Nandi. Of Visva came the All-gods, and they are said to have no offspring. Of Sadhya came the host of Sadhyas, and their son was Arthasiddhi. Marutvan and Jayanta were both born of Marutvati. Jayanta is a portion of Vasudeva, and it is he whom they know as Upendra.

Of Muhurta were born the god-hosts of the hours, who hand to living beings the fruit that is born of each one's own time. Of Sankalpa came Sankalpa, resolve; and desire is remembered as the child of resolve. Vasu's sons are the eight Vasus. Hear their names from me.
