7When the supreme teacher of the gods, and his own teacher, came in, he did not greet him by rising, or by offering a seat, or in any other way. 8The lord of speech, best of sages, to whom gods and antigods alike bow, came into the hall; and Indra saw him and did not stir from his seat. 9At that the seer, the master, the son of Angiras, went straight out and came home in silence, knowing what the pride of wealth does to a man. 10That very moment Indra woke to his own slighting of his teacher, and there in the assembly he blamed himself, by himself. 11Ah, alas! What I have done is not good, and my mind in doing it was small. Drunk on lordship, I made my teacher nothing in the assembly.
12What man of sense would want wealth, even the wealth of the lord of the three heavens, when by it I, the ruler of the gods, have been brought today to the temper of a demon?
