Those who say that a man seated on the highest seat should rise for no one at all do not know what the higher dharma is. Those who trust the word of such teachers of the wrong road, men falling headlong into the dark, sink as people sink who cross on rafts of stone. So I will go without guile to the teacher of the immortals, the twice-born man whose mind has no floor to it, and win him over, touching his feet with my head. While Maghavan was thinking in this way, the revered Brhaspati left his house by a way that could not be seen, using a power of his own inward art. Search as he would, the revered, self-ruling one found no sign of his teacher; and thinking hard about it with the gods, he could get no peace of mind.
