For those who want to fight, and who come armed against another anywhere, whose selves are in another's hands, victory is never always on one side; except for the one Lord of arising and dissolving and standing, who knows everything, the first Person, without end. These worlds and their guardians breathe in his power, having no power of their own, bound like birds in a net. He is the cause here, and he is Time. Vigour, endurance, strength, breath, deathlessness and death as well are his. Not knowing him to be the cause, a man takes the dull body for himself. As a woman made of wood, as a deer made of leaves, so are living beings, Maghavan. Know that they are worked by the Lord, sir.

The Person, nature, the manifest, the self, the elements, the senses and the seats of feeling can do nothing at the making of this world and the rest without his favour. The man who does not know thinks himself the lord when he has no power at all. With beings he makes beings, and by them he swallows them again.
