Praised in this way, the Bhagavan, the Endless, was pleased and spoke to him, to Citraketu, the lord of the vidyadharas, chief of the Kurus. Bhagavan said: My own teaching was spoken to you by Narada and Angiras, king; and by that knowledge, and by the sight of me, you have come through. I am all beings; I am the self of beings and the bringer of beings into being. The Brahman that is sound and the highest Brahman are both of them my lasting bodies. The self is spread out in the world and the world runs on in the self. Both are filled by me, and both are made in me. As a man in deep sleep sees the whole world within himself, and when he rises into a dream thinks himself to be in one place only,

so, knowing that waking and the rest, the stations of the living one, belong to the self and are nothing but maya, a man should remember the highest, who is watching them. That by which a sleeping man knows his own sleep, and knows the ease of it, and Brahman beyond the strands: know that self to be me. For a man who remembers both, the sleeping and the waking, what runs through them and yet stands apart from them is knowing, and that is the highest Brahman.
