1The vow for the getting of a son, brahmin, that you spoke of: I want to learn about it, the vow by which Visnu is pleased. 2In the bright fortnight of Margasirsa a woman, with her husband's leave, should begin this vow, which answers every wish, from the first day. 3Having heard the birth of the Maruts and taken counsel of the brahmins, having bathed, with her teeth clean and white clothes on her and her ornaments, she should worship the Bhagavan with Sri before the morning meal. 4Enough for you, who look to nothing outside yourself, whose every desire is full: salutation to you. To the lord of the great splendours, salutation; to him who is every attainment.
5Because you are attended by pity, by abundance, by brilliance, by greatness, by strength, Lord, and by every excellence, therefore you are the Bhagavan and the master. 6Wife of Visnu, great maya, bearing the marks of the great Person: be pleased with me, greatly favoured one, mother of the worlds. Salutation to you. 7Om. Salutation to the Bhagavan, the great Person, of great power, lord of the great splendours: with the great splendours I bring this offering. With this formula, day after day, one should present to Visnu, with a well-gathered mind, the services of calling him, water for the guest, water for the feet, water for rinsing, bathing, cloth, the thread, ornaments, scent, flowers, incense, a lamp, food and the rest.
8And one should pour what is left of the offering into the fire, twelve pourings, with: Om, salutation to the Bhagavan, the great Person, lord of the great splendours, svaha.
