12On this very matter an old story was told long ago by the sage of the gods, with pleasure, at a great sacrifice, king, to him to whom no enemy is born, who asked for it. 13The king had seen a great wonder at the royal sacrifice, that great rite: the ruler of Cedi becoming one with Vasudeva, the Bhagavan. 14There at the rite the king, Pandu's son, his mind full of wonder, put this to the sage of the gods who sat by, and the sages listened. 15Ah, this is a very great wonder: hard to reach even for those who want nothing else, and yet the hating Caidya reached Vasudeva, the highest reality. 16All of us want to learn this, sage. Vena was thrown down into the dark by the twice-born for speaking against the Bhagavan.
