That great demon conquered all the quarters and the three worlds: the lords of gods and antigods and men, the gandharvas, Garuda and the serpents, the siddhas, the caranas and the vidyadharas, the sages, the lords of the fathers, the Manus, the lords of yaksas and raksasas and pisacas, and the lords of ghosts and spirits; and having beaten the lords of every kind of being and brought them under him, the conqueror of the world took away the places of the world-guardians along with their fire. He took up his seat in heaven, which the beauty of the gods' gardens graces, and lived in great Indra's own house, built by Visvakarman himself, the home of the fortune of the three worlds, with every kind of riches in it.

There the stairs are coral and the floors great emerald; there the walls are crystal and the rows of pillars beryl; there are painted canopies and seats of ruby, and couches like the foam on milk, hung about with strings of pearls. There the goddesses, sounding their tinkling anklets this way and that, look into the jewelled floors and see their own fine-toothed and lovely faces.
