As she was led away, shaking with fear and crying like an osprey, the divine sage happened to come there and saw her on the road. He said: Lord of the gods, you should not take this woman away; she has done nothing wrong. Let her go, let her go, greatly favoured one. She is faithful, and she is another man's wife. In her belly lies the seed of the enemy of the gods, and it will not be borne. Let her stay until the birth; then I shall let her go, having got what I came for. This child is without stain, great, in his own person great among the Lord's own. You will not bring him to his end. He walks after the Endless, and he is strong.

Told this, Indra let her go, honouring the divine sage's word; and for the love and devotion he bore the Endless he walked round her and went to heaven. Then the sage brought my mother to his own hermitage, comforted her, and said: Stay here, child, until your husband comes back. She said, so be it, and lived near the divine sage with nothing anywhere to fear, for as long as the lord of the Daityas did not come back from his terrible austerity.
