34When a man hears the deeds and the matchless qualities and the strong feats done in the bodies of his play, and in his great gladness bristles and weeps and stammers, and with straining throat sings out, cries out, dances; 35when, like a man seized by a spirit, he laughs at one moment and wails at the next, sits lost in thought, bows to whoever passes, and breathing hard says over and over, Hari! Lord of the world! Narayana! his mind on the self, his shame gone; 36then that man is loosed from every bond. His heart and his very shape have taken the mould of what he loves, the seed of his clinging burnt away; and by the great working of devotion he comes to the one beyond the reach of the senses.
37The wise know that reaching the one beyond the reach of the senses breaks the wheel of the round of birth for one who bears a body and is unclean, and that this is the joy of Brahman, the going out of the fire. So love the Lord of the heart, in your hearts. 38Boys of the demons, what great labour is there in worshipping Hari, who is in your own heart as the empty space is? He is your own self, your friend, the same to all who wear bodies. Why go fetching things for the senses?
