Then all the sons of the Daityas, hearing what he had told them, took it up, because there was nothing wrong in it, and not what their teacher had taught. Then the teacher's son, seeing that their minds had settled on one thing only, was frightened and quickly told the king how it stood. Hearing that unwelcome and unbearable news of his son's way, the Daitya shook in every limb at the rush of his anger, and set his mind on killing the boy. He flung harsh words at Prahlada, who deserved none of them, and spoke while he looked at him wickedly, out of the corner of his eye. The boy stood bowed in respect, his senses held in, his palms joined; and his father, cruel by his own nature, hissed like a snake that has been trodden on.

You ill-taught, dull-witted wretch, lowest of men, breaker of the family! You are stiff-necked, and you have shaken off my rule. Today I will take you to the house of Yama. When I am angry the three worlds shake, and their lords with them. Fool, on what strength did you go past my order as though there were nothing to fear?
