Sometimes I eat little and sometimes much, food with taste in it or none; sometimes a great deal of it, well made, and sometimes food with nothing good about it. Sometimes what is handed to me with trust, sometimes what is given without respect. I eat; and then somewhere I eat again, by day or by night, as it happens. Linen or fine cloth, a deerskin, rags or bark, or whatever else comes my way, I wear it, taking what is allotted, and my mind is content. Sometimes I lie on the lap of the earth, on grass or leaves or stone or ashes; sometimes, if others wish it, on a couch in a palace or on a cushion. Sometimes I go bathed and anointed, well dressed, garlanded and adorned, with chariots and elephants and horses; and sometimes, mighty one, with the sky for my clothes, like a man a spirit has taken.

I neither blame people nor praise them, uneven as their natures are. I wish them what is good for them, and that they be one with the great Self.
